Mr. Wadia's long-lived warship – one of over a hundred he built for the Royal Navy – was the Royal Navy's last line-of-battle sailing ship in foreign service. She served as the flagship of Rear Admiral Robert Lambert Baynes who was responsible for making peace between the United States and the British in 1859 in a territorial dispute involving a part of present-day Vancouver and present-day Washington. Today, if you visit British Columbia in Canada, you will find a village named Ganges, and if you so wish, perhaps even take a dip in the waters of Ganges harbour.
